Several veterans of A Company, Vietnam, 1967-1968, went to Washington DC for the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and the Reading of the Names ceremony.

Jim Ahlfeld (NY) suggested the trip and the result was a mini- reunion of A Company vets and participation in the reading of the names of our fallen comrades.  Attending and participating in the reading were Jim Ahlfeld, Peter Schroeter (NJ), Steve Senkovich, LTC Ret. (VA) and Bob Salo (FL).

On Friday, 9 November, Bob Salo read the name of   SSG John H. Wilkens   who was killed in action along with SP/4 Dennis R. Mason, and PFC Roy W. Neal on 28 May of 1968. Later on Friday, John H. Wilkens, Jr. arrived from New York and spent the weekend with them. They shared remembrances of his father and shared stories from 40 years ago.

On Sunday, several of them also attended the Veterans Day ceremonies at The Wall where the featured speaker was former Secretary Of State and General (Ret.) Colin L. Powell, who spoke eloquently to the large crowd.

The A Company veterans described it as a great trip and a very moving experience.
