| I graduated from high school at Unionville, Missouri
in May 1966. I worked about two years and was drafted in April 1968.
My Basic Training was at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and AIT at Fort
Gordon, Georgia. After 3 weeks leave I was sent to Vietnam.

I was assigned to C Company, 720th MP Battalion at Long Binh. I was assigned to Convoy Escort and Security, we traveled daily to Tay Ninh, Cu Chi, Dau Tieng, Lai Khe, Phuoc Vinh, and Quan Loi.
In December 1968 I was part of a new detachment sent to Cu Chi to support the 25th Infantry Division MPs. We had some units that went out daily on Road Patrol and some filled in on the convoy to Tay Ninh and Dau Tieng. We also supported Engineers (traffic control) that were paving the highway between Trang Bang and Tay Ninh.
I was assigned to a prisoner shipment to Hawaii with a buck sergeant from B Company. We escorted two American prisoners. After returning to Vietnam from Hawaii in May 1969 I transferred back to our company at Long Binh.
June 1969 through December 1969 I was assigned to a Prisoner of War Hospital as a guard.

I finished my tour of duty on 3 December 1969. I extended for two months to qualify for an early out. I was discharged at Oakland Army Terminal in California.
I worked at several jobs over the years, mainly carpentry. I joined the Missouri Army National Guard and retired from there in 1996. My guard unit was also a Military Police Unit. We deployed to Germany, Holland, Panama, Honduras and many locations throughout the Continental United States.
The majority of our deployments were Real World Missions as opposed to Training Missions. I had the opportunity to work with the 720th again at Fort Hood, Texas in April 1988. I went there under the Missouri National Guards (KPUP Program) Key Personnel Upgrade Personnel program.
While serving in the Guard I attained a Bachelor of Science Degree with a dual major in Criminal Justice and Management.
I feel very fortunate to have been associated with
the Military Police Corps and the U.S. Army. I should also add that
I am an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #4253.
