I arrived in Vietnam in early September 1968 and was assigned to the 720th Military Police Battalion, C Company.

My first duty assignment was the Convoy Escort Platoon. I worked the Long Binh to Tay Ninh convoy during the remainder of September, and was then assigned to temporary duty to assist the night shift at the Long Binh Stockade. After three weeks of stockade duty I was offered the position of C Company Operations Clerk, which I accepted.

The responsibilities included acting as the unit mail clerk, handling the company training rosters, daily duty roster, and assisting the company clerk. I also made trips to the C Company detachments located at Di An and Chu Chi.

In March of 1969 I took over the position of Company Clerk and was responsible for the morning reports, unit orders, award orders and casualty reports. In addition I was responsible for coordinating and reassignment of personnel for all duty rosters.

There were also occasions where I would fill in on various convoy escort runs and man Check Point 37, at the intersection of Highway No. 13 and Highway No. 1 for the Tay Ninh convoy run.

I completed my tour in Vietnam and my service commitment in the Army as the company clerk, and was honorable discharged on 6 November 1969.
