My 21 years of military service started with my enlistment in 1954 in the Medical Corps as a Dental Technician. I served in Japan on Okinawa with the 75th Regimental Combat Team then in Korea with the 24th Infantry Division with duty assignment at I Corps, NCO Academy. I briefly left the Army and reenlisted in 1959, this time for the Military Police Corps. I was Honor Graduate at the Military Police School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. My next service assignments consisted of the 520th MP Company, SHAPE HQ, France, Fort Devens, MA, Camp Peary, VA (Department of Defense assignment). My second tour of Korea was with A Company 728th MP Battalion attached to the Provost Marshals Office (PMO) as the MP Station Commander where I was responsible for supervising the daily functions of the MP desk, patrols, vice, traffic and customs. I was then assigned to the MP School and NCOIC Assistant Instructor of the Combined Arms Committee.
I ended my career as the Provost Marshal Operations NCO, and First Sergeant of the 236th MP Detachment at Walter Reed Army Hospital. I retired from the Army in January 1975 but continued working in the civil service. First with the Law Enforcement Division, ODCSPER, Pentagon as the Freedom of Information & Privacy Act Action Officer, then with the IRS Boston Office, as the Chief of Operating Services, and finished my second career in the Civil Service in the new IRS Security Section. In addition to MFSS-Dental Tech School & MP AIT, I graduated from both the 7th Army NCOA, Germany, and MP NCO School, Class #1, Fort Gordon, GA. |
