LTC Larry D. Furey

   LTC Furey was appointed Commander of the Battalion at its inception at Fort  George Meade, Maryland on 22 January 1942 during WWII.

     He participated in the selection and training of the first Battalion personnel in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and then accompanied them to Australia where he was given the added duties as Provost Marshal of Base Section No. 2 in Townsville.

    On 5 October 1942 LTC Furey relinquished command to LTC James L. Patterson.
