LTC Gerald G. Gibbons  (COL retired)

Commanding Officer of the 720th Military Police Battalion
13 August 1972 to May 1974, 5th Army, Fort Hood, Texas

     LTC Gibbons received command of the Battalion when the colors were sent home from South Vietnam to Fort Hood, Texas. HQ & HQ Detachment of the 518th MP Battalion was redesignated as the 720th with LTC Gibbons commanding. The letter companies, A, B and C, were deactivated and replaced by the 401st, 410th and 411th MP Companies, respectively.

     In May 1974 LTC Gibbons passed command of the Battalion to LTC George Nipper.
