AWARD OF THE MERITORIOUS UNIT COMMENDATION
1. TC 320. The following AWARD is announced. Awarded: Meritorious Unit Commendation (First Oak Leaf Cluster) Date of Action: 19 October 1966 to 31 May 1967 Theater: Republic of Vietnam Reason: For exceptionally meritorious achievement in the performance of outstanding service: The 720th MILITARY POLICE BATTALION, and the attached 615th MILITARY POLICE COMPANY, have distinguished themselves in support of military operations in the Republic of Vietnam during the period 19 October 1966 to 31 May 1967. Upon arrival in Vietnam, the unit was assigned to Long Binh Post with the dual mission of providing security for Long Binh ammunition supply depot and maintaining law enforcement throughout the III Corps Tactical Zone. Operating from a base camp in a relatively insecure area and with limited resources, this unit distinguished the utmost in efficiency and competence in providing the prompt establishment of law enforcement, road and convoy security, and prisoner escort throughout its vast area of assignment. Displaying exemplary initiative and perseverance, the members of this unit selfishly worked around-the-clock to establish their own base of operations while continuously performing all assigned missions with unparalleled proficiency and tenacity. |
