The Ernie Pyle Theater (formerly known as the Takarazuko Gekijo building) and Snack Bar, 1947.

War Correspondent Ernie Pyle was shot and killed by a sniper on the Island of Okinawa, Japan on 18 April 1945.

Pyle was loved by the American soldier, and often referred to as "the most-read war correspondent in U.S. newspapers and one of the most popular men in America."

The building was run by the U.S. Army Special Services and provided to the occupation troops, live shows and musical programs, in addition to movies. Photographer unidentified. "It was located in central Tokyo, across the street from the Imperial Hotel. The old theater was home to the all-girl Takarazuka revue and after the Occupation, it was returned to them. The new Takarazuke Theater is now a high-rise entertainment and office complex." PFC John E. “Jack” Marquardt, D, B & HQ Company, 720th MP Battalion, 8th U.S. Army, Tokyo, Occupied Japan, 1946-1948.
