FOB Muleskinner/Cuervo/Camp Rustamiyah

   First named FOB Muleskinner, renamed FOB Cuervo on 1 April 2004 for PFC Rey D. Cuervo, age 24, Laguna Vista, Texas,1st Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, Louisiana, KIA 28 December 2003, then renamed Camp Rustamiya in mid-September 2004 under an Army-wide renaming program.

   The camp is located six miles southeast of Sader City in Baghdad. The camp is home to two story barracks facilities built at a cost of $2 million, each of which is composed of rooms equipped with air conditioning, beds, wall lockers, and can house two soldiers each. The buildings also contain day rooms equipped with television comfortable furniture and recreational equipment. Both floors of each building have a large restroom with eight showers, sinks and toilets.

   There is also a small Post Exchange (PX), a dining facility, a laundry facility, a 24 hour seven days a week internet cafe with numerous computers and laptop service.

   The camp is also home to a detention facility surrounded by two chain link fences topped by razor wire. It served as an initial processing and holding facility for detainees suspected of anti-coalition activities. The detainees were held pending transfer to Abu Graib Prison. The building has air conditioning and contains 24 cells, each capable of housing two detainees each. Ceiling fans and located over each cell, and each cell contains a bunk bed. A hot and cold shower facility is located directly outside the front of the building.
