PFC Carlsen was assigned to the 504th MP Battalion in Nha Thrang in the middle of February 1968. He spent one month in Nha Thrang when Company A (504th MP Battalion) was sent to Phu Bai. They started by convoy then on an LST and spent three days on the South China Sea. He wasn't in Phu Bai but a very short time before being sent to Hue. |

His detachment was first billeted in the Catholic Nuns quarters, then moved to the French Villa where they spent the rest of the time in Hue. After four months he was transferred back to Phu Bai where the 146th was headquartered. At Phu Bai he worked on patrol and convoy escort. |
