| Our main assignment was to patrol, escort convoys and assist the ground troops who were stationed at the firebases along highway QL-4 which ran from Saigon to Soc Trang near the Cambodian border. Though not much fanfare was given to our units, we were involved in more enemy ambushes on convoys especially in a area called "Ambush Alley." The other two units we had were named the Head Hunter, and the Widow Maker. Of course I have photographs to back what I say about our units along with movies of the convoys and other military units we assisted with.
Our Commanding Officer and I used my V-100 to rescue one fallen comrade and one Sergeant who we got to before the VC did. Sometime later we were decorated for heroism for our action while under a full enemy attack. So I have very found memories of the great crews we had which patrolled QL-4 from 1968 to 1970.
