Ed was assigned to the 560th MP Company when he arrived in Vietnam in September 1968. From the 560th he was assigned TDY to C Company, 87th Infantry (Rifle Security) where he worked in the River Boat Platoon then the 1st Platoon Dock Security.

        On 29 January 1969 he was assigned TDY (on paper only) to the 22nd Provost Marshal Detachment.

        Then on 9 July 1969 he was assigned TDY to Headquarters Detachment, 92nd MP Battalion as the S2 NCO to MAJ Peter T. Berry.
