Subordinate to the 18th MP Brigade, command, control, staff planning and coordination was provided by the 89th MP Group to all military police units that were attached and assigned to it in the III and IV Corps Tactical Zones of Vietnam.

Subordinate units were the 92nd, 95th, 716th and 720th Military Police Battalions.

After the Vietnam War the 89th MP Group was reactivated in the U.S. and eventually became the 89th MP Brigade to which the 720th MP Battalion is currently attached.
