     With the construction of its facilities on Long Binh Post nearing final completion the 720th Military Police Battalion became operational in Vietnam. The first Battalion assignments would be rotated between the three organic companies every three months.

October-November and into December A, B & C Company were often asked to provide MP drivers for some of the ammunition trucks that carried supplies from the 3rd ordinance Ammunition Depot on Long Binh Post to Cu Chi and Tay Ninh.

 
5 November The first official convoy duties of the Battalion were assigned to B Company. It involved the escort of an ammunition and supply convoys from the 3rd Ordinance Supply Depot on Long Binh Post to the Chu Chi and Tay Ninh base camps of the 25th Infantry Division near the Cambodian border.

     Both A & C Companies would also eventually be rotated into the early Tay Ninh convoy escort program.
