Photo G0134: One of the first boats obtained from the Coast Guard for the 720th MP Battalion, River Patrol Unit in Vietnam in 1967. The engine covers were removed from the outboard engines to prevent over heating when running on the river. Displayed are the standard equipment and weaponry carried by the crew. Front: M-79 40mm Grenade Launcher, middle; tripod mounted 7.62mm M-60 Machine gun with 200 round box of ammunition attached, left rear; PRC-25 field radio telephone, in front of the radio an M14, 7.62mm rifle. Most of these light cargo transport boats were later replaced with sleeker Boston Whaler “Skimmers”. Several of the older boats were kept for transport use. Courtesy of SP/4 Robert E.
