Photo G0690: The burned out hulk of 720th MP Battalion, C Company, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade V100 Armored Commando Car C54 being returned to the Battalion Motor Pool on Long Binh Post by an M51 Tank Recovery Vehicle. It was destroyed during a North Vietnamese Army ambush of the 1st Infantry Division Quan Loi convoy escort on Highway QL-13 “Thunder Road” in Binh Long Province, III Corps Tactical Zone, South Vietnam on 28 April 1969. The vehicle was struck by a Rocket Propelled Grenade through the right rear wheel well (red arrow shows impact area) along with .51 caliber heavy machine gun fire. Courtesy of SGT Robert J.
