G0697: What to do about a dropped crate of ammunition is being addressed
by the transport truck driver (left) from whose truck the crate fell, an
unidentified 25th Infantry Division MP (center), and C Company, 720th MP
Battalion, SP/4 Bruce Lambert (right), during a 1968 Tay Ninh/Cu Chi Convoy
run in Vietnam. The cargo had been listing to one side because it was not properly
secured. The vehicle joined the convoy at Cu Chi so it was the 25th MP Company
responsibility to make sure the cargo was properly secured for the trip.
When it was spotted SP/4 Lambert requested that the vehicle be sent back
to Cu Chi but the 25th MP Company NCOIC refused. When the crate dropped,
SP/4 Bruce Lamber reminded the NCOIC, "told you so." As they say...
shit runs down hill.... so the 25th MP took it out on the truck driver. Courtesy
of SP/4 Harry G. Lambert, C Company, 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade, September 1968 to November 1969. |
