Photo G2095:  During a village cordon and search in Operation MANHATTAN, east of Tay Ninh City in the Dau Tieng Michelin Rubber Plantation area in Binh Duong and Binh Long Provinces, III Corps Tactical Zone, Vietnam on 30 April 1967, SP/4 Allan Portnoy, B Company, 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade made friends with this young boy. Allan gave him a piece of chewing gum and he didn’t know what it was. Allan put a piece of gum in his mouth and started chewing it. The young boy did the same and kept watching Allan to see if he would swallow it. The youngster was surprised and couldn’t understand why Allan spit his gum out a few minutes later.
