Photo G2219: Coke can cement planter outside of A Company, 720th MP Battalion, on Long Binh Post, Vietnam in August 1970. Our commanding officer had us do a clean up of the Company area after he saw some cigarette butts on the ground. Everyone was upset for being treated like new recruits. A couple of days later, there was an empty Coke can on the grounds outside the CO’s office window. Someone walked by and kicked it instead of picking it up. The CO witnessed the incident but instead of grabbing the culprit, he had the cement planter painted like a Coke Can. He called everyone out onto the lot and dared us to “Kick this Coke Can.”Courtesy of SP/4 George E. Wellock, A Company, 720th MP Battalion, December 1969 to February 1971. |
