Photo G2253: C Company, 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade, Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) C109 “Sly & The Family Stoned,” one of eight assigned to the company in Vietnam in early 1971. The APC was named after the band Sly and the Family Stone who in 1967 were credited as one of the first racially integrated bands in music history, belting their message of peace, love and social consciousness through a string of hit anthems that fused R&B, soul, funk and rock n roll. “Good Vibrations” appears on the gun shield. It’s the name of the 1966 #1 Album of the Beach Boys. If you can identify any of the other APC's in this photo, use this Email Link. Courtesy of SP/4 Charles D.
