Photo G2954: The burned out hulk of C Company, 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade V100 C54 Armored Commando Car the day after it was ambushed escorting the Quan Loi Convoy on Highway QL-13 “Thunder Road” in Binh Long Province, III Corps Tactical Zone, South Vietnam on 28 April 1969. The vehicle was struck by a Rocket Propelled Grenade through the right rear wheel well along with .51 caliber heavy machine gun fire. On the deck to the right of the turret is a single jungle boot. In the background is a 1st Infantry Division Armored Personnel Carrier providing security for the recovery operation. Courtesy of PFC James F.
