Photo G3596: The narrow roadway to VC Hill (Nui Lon Mountain) where the 104th Signal Squadron radio and communication relay station (Link to Photo G3166) was situated near the crest that contained multichannel systems transmitting to various points, including Tan Son Nhut Airbase and the Australian Task Force at Nui Dat. The mountain, one of three, was located on a small peninsula on the coastline of the South China Sea (eastern side). Front Beach was located on the southern side of the peninsula and, Back Beach on the northern side. To get to the top of the mountain, you had to negotiate the very narrow road that had switchbacks in it, enough to make the road twice as long as it would have been as the crow flies. Traveling in anything other than a jeep, the vehicle driver would have to back up and inch forward several times in order to get around the many extremely tight curves.
