January 1966 Construction of the Bien Hoa (Ho Nai) enemy POW camp for III Corps Tactical Zone was started and the camp was opened in May 1966 and operated by the South Vietnamese Army (ARVN) with U.S. Army advisors.

       In the early years the 720th MP Battalion transported adult male EPWs captured within their Tactical Area Of Responsibility to the facility which is later described as a camp for male juveniles. It is not yet known when the change took place.
