1965 On 31 July the 93rd Evacuation Hospital was alerted for deployment to Vietnam, and departed 15 October 1965. |
31 October The unit arrived at Vung Tau, Vietnam, debarking on 4 November for airlift to Bien Hoa Air Base. The unit bivouacked in an area provided by the 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, from 4 November 1965 to 4 January 1966. During the period of November 4 to 26, 1965, the unit remained in a non-operational status. Red circle equipment and supplies were received November 7 through 10, 1965. |
27 November The first TOE equipment was received. The unit immediately went to work establishing a hospital in buildings provided by the 159th Engineer Group. Patient treatment facilities were established in semi-permanent buildings. |
1 December The hospital became fully operational at Long Binh and remained there throughout its long stay in Vietnam. |

During the Vietnam War the 93rd Evacuation Hospital admitted 73,023 patients, treated 9,353 battle casualties, and had over 232,581 outpatient visits. The 93rd Evacuation Hospital participated in and received 13 campaign streamers, and depicted on 3 streamers for sustained and outstanding performance of duty. The unit received the Meritorious Unit Citation (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal, First Class Streamer Vietnam 1969-1970. |
1971 On 15 April the hospital ceased patient care and closed. 30 April The hospital staff returned to the United States, headquartered at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. |
