June 1967 to June 1968

26 December 2006 Recently, I was looking at your site on the history of the188th and saw a picture of my father along with a request for information.

Sadly, he passed away in April of 1982, but what little I know I will pass on to you.

After he left Vietnam in 1968, he was stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia with the 140th MP Company from June 1968 to October 1971. During this tour he was an MP Investigator and worked with the AWOL apprehension division.

Following that he was the Assistant Operations Sergeant and then NCO in charge PMO division. From Fort Gordon he was stationed in Germany from November 1971 to November 19/73 with the 42nd MP Group Customs.

From Germany, he was stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, and assigned as a branch chief of national crimes information center (NCIC). I do not have his company or unit information for this assignment. He remained there until the end of 1976, after which he was medically retired in 1977 with 23+ years of service.

My father was a veteran of the Korean conflict and served two tours in Vietnam, he was 47 years old when he died.

I am enclosing the only photo I have during his tour with the 188th, I hope it is in a format that you can use and either it or the information might be helpful.

Thank you,

Freida Bass Prieto
