Skip was assigned to the A Company Ambush Squad and worked the night ambush and day recon patrol assignments. In between he was also assigned to Village Patrols in the Tactical Area of Responsibility.

        Towards the end of his tour he was assigned to the II Field Forces to Saigon night convoy escort.
