1LT Cox arrived at the 720th MP Battalion in March 1970 and was assigned to the 188th MP Company in Vin Long. At that time the 188th was subordinate to the 720th. He was promoted to Captain and made the Provost Marshal for Vin Long Province.

In August 1970 he was reassigned to HQ Detachment as Adjutant for LTC Schmitz, 720th MP Battalion Commanding Officer.
