CW3 Romeo Garcia

Criminal Investigation Division Cell ~ 720th MP Battalion, October 1966

CW3 Garcia came over to Vietnam with the 720th MP Battalion in October 1966. He and the other members of the CID Cell were detached from the battalion and assigned to 87th CID Detachment CI Bien Hoa Office, CID Group Provisional.

He retired from the military in 1971 and was employed in the legal departments of two oil companies and worked as a staff investigator of the State Bar of Texas. With assistance from his youngest son, Joel, he formed Executive Services Inter-America, a legal investigations company in San Antonio, Texas. Romeo was also very active in the local and national CID Agents Associations.

Romeo also contributed several stories listed in the book, Soldiers Of The Gauntlet, memories of the 720th Military Police Battalion, United States Army 1942-1992.

Romeo Garcia passed from our ranks 29 June 1993 and will be missed by all those who knew and worked with him.

If you can provide any Vietnam era photographs of Romeo, please notify the History Project Manager via the Email Link on the CID Page.

In Loving Memory

Our friend, Association President, and fellow CID Agent, Romeo Garcia passed away on June 29th, 1993 in San Antonio, Texas. It is with great sadness that I bring you this news.

Romeo was finalizing plans for the forthcoming annual AACIDA and National CID Association Meeting in Corpus Christi, Texas, this October 1993, and was looking forward to seeing us there. Romeo has dedicated many hours of planning for the continuation of fellowship among CID Agents throughout the United States. He was recently elected First Vice President of the National CID Association.

Romeo became a CID Agent in January 1966, after several years as an Agent with the US Air Force Office Of Special Investigations. During his tenure with CID, he made many friends throughout the world and was known as the "CID Agent's Agent." Nothing could be more evident.

Romeo possessed a rich quality of genuine love of mankind, his family, and his friends. He took pride in every task he performed. One noteworthy area of such pride was his preparation of his Texas Bar-B-Q Picnic, held each year at the annual CID gathering in San Antonio.

Romeo loved life and he loved most people with whom he came in contact. He was well known and respected throughout the law enforcement community in San Antonio, Texas and various areas around the world. He indeed has left an indelible mark on this world, one that will withstand the erosion of time.

Romeo is survived by his loving wife Sylvia and five children, and by his many friends who will truly miss him. All of us have greatly benefited from having known Romeo Garcia. He will be dearly missed.....
