SGT Huffner was a member of the 720th MP Battalion Drug Suppression Team (DST) from September 1971 through January 1972. One of his most notable investigations involved a major black market organization run out of Vung Tau. He and another member of the DST covertly infiltrated a Vietnamese gang which was able to purchase rationed items (expensive electronic appliances) from the Australian Post Exchange (PX) on a daily basis. As the investigation came to its conclusion, SGT Huffner was able to convince the Vietnamese gang into providing heroin instead of cash as payment to the undercover MP's working as corrupt GI employees of the PX. This resulted in numerous arrests and the seizure over a kilo of 95% pure heroin. 1LT John D. Bradley, II, Officer In Charge, Drug Suppression Team, 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade, September 1971 to September 1972. |
