When I came to tent city in June of 1967, standing in line to get my equipment, I overheard the orderly sergeant asking the supply sergeant if any of the new guys could type. I reported that I could and the orderly sergeant left. Before I had my equipment I was told to report to the orderly room. |

I met with CPT Laskey. He took me on as his driver and I performed extra duties as mail clerk. When CPT Trisko came he changed my rank from SP/4 to Corporal. CPT Trisko said he wanted an NCO driving him and not a specialist. At the time it didn't matter to me, the money was the same. As I look back though I was kind of proud to be a CPL. |
