SP/4 Roides obtained his basic training and came over with the Battalion from Fort Hood, Texas. He was assigned to A Company and worked the ammunition convoy escorts to Tay Ninh and Cu Chi.

        He was briefly assigned to HQ Detachment and later returned to A Company where he was assigned with thirty MP's to the Tay Ninh Detachment for the remaining eight months of his tour.

        John has worked at Bausch & Lomb for 23 years from 1967-1993, and also has been a Lake Ontario Charter boat Captain for 22 years, running Salmon and Trout Sportfishing charters.
