He returned to Vietnam for another tour and for most of 1968 was a Detachment NCOIC for the 212th MP Company, 720th MP Battalion. He was a SSG when he left in early 1969. |

Rich stayed on active duty and eventually was a senior Military Working Dog Handler Instructor. When he retired from the Army in 1984, he was the 1SG of the Army's training detachment at the Department Of Defense Dog Center at Lackland Air Force Base. He stayed in the program for several more years as an Air Force Civil Service employee.
