CPT Wright served his first tour in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division along with LTC Albert A. Ackerman before he became the Battalion Commanding Officer.

        He was assigned to B Company as its Commanding Officer under LTC Ackerman when it was headquartered in Vinh Long in the Mekong Delta.

        During his command the company was moved back to Long Binh Post in March 1972 where they performed Post Patrols, Agent Orange convoy escorts from Bien Hoa to Newport Docks, Ammunition convoys to Lai Khe, and refugee convoy escorts to Vung Tau.

        At the end of his tour with B Company CPT Wright returned to the US and was assigned to the 18th Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg where he resigned his commission.
