Zone Of The Interior (ZOI) / Continental United States |
20 March The Battalion ceased training and was deployed to Pennsylvania and assigned as follows: Battalion Headquarters to Logan Armory, Pittsburgh; HQ Detachment, A and B Companies to McKeesport (south of Pittsburgh); C Company to Coraopolis (northwest of Pittsburgh) on the Ohio River; D Company to the National Guard Armory in Harrisburg. |
21 March The Battalion relieved the 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry, 29th Infantry Division and assumed the duties and responsibilities of guarding reservoirs, pumping stations, power plants, dams, railroad facilities, and other public utilities and industrial installations in the area. |

With the country still recovering from
the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese, and German U-Boats sighted
off the Atlantic coast, tensions were high throughout the country, with
fears of Nazi saboteurs and fifth columnist.
30 March B Company moved from McKeesport to South Park, Pennsylvania.
