24 October D Company sent a thirty-six man detachment advance party to Oro Bay, New Guinea.

27 October The A Company elements remaining at Cairns were relieved.

28 October The A Company elements left Cairns and proceeded to Townsville, Australia. The remainder of B Company departed Australia for Milne Bay, New Guinea to join the platoon already there.
