With the switch from woodland camo to desert camo uniforms, the logistics supply had yet to catch up with the force requirements with some items of equipment. Field Uniform Desert Camo colored cotton field Jacket, cotton cargo pants and long sleve shirt, matching canvas-leather boots, and camo brassard with MP in brown with the matching camo subdued unit patch above it. The holster was black canvas worn on a leg rig. Field gear of olive drab (OD) canvas harness, canvas rifle ammo pouches, plastic canteen in canvas pouch and field bandage in pouch, with a woodland camo flack jacket. The Kevlar helmet with camo cover, was the standard head cover.

Branch tags were brown lettered on tan field, name tags were the same. Rank chevrons were black metal with pin post attachments or brown embroidered on tan colored cloth tabs, and or sewn onto the uniform collar and helmet camo cover. During this time period the Army had already developed a new digital camouflage pattern for a standard combat uniform that would be suitable for use in world-wide theaters of combat regardless of geographic conditions. It was issued on a very limited basis for testing in Iraq. |
