LTC Larry B. Berrong, Jr.

Commanding Officer of the 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Brigade, III Corps
16 July 1982 to 17 July 1984

     On 16 July 1982 LTC Berrong assumed command of the Battalion from LTC Artis B. Mosley, Jr.

     The Battalion assets were stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.

     On 17 July 1984 LTC Berrong passed command of the Battalion to LTC Paul A. Sowa.

     Colonel (Retired) Berrong was commissioned a Second Lieutenant upon graduation from East Tennessee State University in December 1963.      Colonel Berrong’s military education includes the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and U.S. Army War College. His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Tennessee State University and Master of Public Administration from the University of Georgia.

     His awards and decorations include; Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster; Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster; Meritorious Service Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters; Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Ribbon with Palm, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge and the Ranger Tab.
