LTC Henry N. Henry, Jr.

Commanding Officer of the 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade
1 August 1969 to 30 January 1970 ~ Republic of South Vietnam

     LTC Henry served as Battalion Commander from 1 August 1969 to 30 January 1970.

     LTC Henry was a 1950 draftee of the Korean War, having served in the infantry as an enlisted man where he received a “Mustang” battlefield commission to Second Lieutenant.

     He stayed in the infantry until 1958, when he received a Regular Army commission in the Military Police Corps. He attended the Military Police schools and taught there for three years before being assigned on ROTC detail for three years. He then served as the Provost Marshal of the European Exchange System for two and a half years.

     During his tour as commander the Battalion participated in: Termination of the four MP Outpost missions in the Tactical Area Of Responsibility; Termination of the Xuan Loc Detachment under the Vietnamization Program; Addition of the Phu Loi and Quan Loi Detachments to supplement MP presence lost due to the Vietnamization Programs reduction of the 1st Infantry Division and 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment activities; Operation Holly (1969) security for the Bob Hope USO Tour.

     On 30 January 1970 LTC Henry passed command to LTC Robert E. Stromfors.
