"Sit-Rep"

Abbreviation for Situation Report, activity status of a particular unit, squad, post, or other assignment.

The unit reporting to a higher authority via radio or field telephone would file their Sit-Rep based on their specific unit standard operating procedure.

Example: B Company ambush teams in the field were required to report their "Sit-Rep" via radio to B Company Tactical Operations Center [TOC] every hour on the hour.

B Company TOC would call each squad every hour during their night ambush assignment via radio. The conversation would be as follows.

TOC to Squad 76.... Sit-Rep?

76.... Negative Sit-Rep.
