Photo B0011: SP/4 Oscar L. Nelson (SFC Retired) of C Company, 720th MP Battalion, 4th Army, Fort Hood, Texas, in May 1962. SP/4 Nelson was the oldest, age 35, and most decorated enlisted man in the Battalion in 1962. He first entered the Navy at the age of 17 in 1943 and earned ribbons for the American Campaign, Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign, Philippine Liberation Campaign, China Service Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He then transferred to the Army serving in Germany before leaving the military in 1950. He enlisted for a second time at the age of 35 in 1961, was given the rank of Specialist 4th Class, and was assigned to C Company, 720th MP Battalion in early 1962. Courtesy of SP/4 (SFC Ret.)
