Headquarters X Corps General Orders Number 73 13 April 1951 AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL -- By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (sec. II, WD Bul. 3.1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V: devise for heroic service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following-named enlisted men: Corporal WILLIAM J. ST. PIERRE, RA31268658, Military Police Corps, United States Army, a member of the X Corps Military Police Company (Provisional). Corporal St. Pierre was on duty at a traffic regulation point, detailed to control traffic around the village of Hagaru'ri, Korea, from 27 November 1950 to 3 December 1950. When completely surrounded by the enemy and without further orders, Corporal St. Pierre escorted convoys in an open vehicle while under enemy fire, with complete disregard for his own personal safety. He further volunteered to assist in the defense of the position during extremely cold weather and while under heavy attack by enemy forces. In addition, Corporal St. Pierre further voluntarily assisted in the expeditious and effective evacuation of the wounded from the Chosin Reservoir area. Entered Federal service from New Hampshire. |
