    On 4 December SP/4 Roger Lee Christensen, age 20, of Macon, Missouri, and his partner Gilmore (rank and first name unknown at this time) were on daytime highway patrol on Highway 1A along the northern border of Long Binh Post in Bien Hoa Provence. Their patrol jeep was struck head on by a “Deuce-and-a-half,” (2&1/2 ton truck) belonging to the Army of The Republic of South Vietnam (ARVN), in the vicinity of Camp Frenzell-Jones, home of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. SP/4 Christensen was seriously injured in the crash and died the following day (5 December) , Gilmore was injured but survived.
