        The 89th MP Group departed Vietnam and was inactivated 21 December 1971. The 720th MP Battalion was then attached subordinate to the 18th MP Brigade also located at Long Binh Post until 1 July 1972 then to the USARV MP Group (Provisional) until 13 August 1972.
