Photo G1317-1:  A couple seeing the sights while traveling in one of the resort city’s horse carriages in Vung Tau in Phuoc Tuy Province, III Corps Tactical Zone, Vietnam in 1966. The carriage ride was popular for young couples and the occasional group of intoxicated GI’s out celebrating. With the exception of the Saigon Race Track and Vung Tau, horses were a rare sight in South Vietnam. They were leftovers from the French Colonial era goal to make the city a cosmopolitan tourist destination. If you can identify this American and his unit, please use this Email Link.
