Photo G2362: Unidentified members of C Company, 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade taking a break during a sandbag detail at the Battalion cantonment on Long Binh Post in Bien Hoa Provence, III Corps Tactical Zone, Vietnam, in October 1966. Across the street in the background (left) is the USARV (LBJ) Stockade. "We arrived in Long Binh to nothing but the red clay earth, and the Long Binh Jail "LBJ" [USARV Stockade] in the background. We had to erect our tents, and of course, bunks, footlockers, etc. all sat in the dirt and mud. No floors... everything dirty and muddy. We filled sandbags every day, and had to stack them around the tents. We also filled the sand bags and built the bunkers. I didn't think it would ever end. This is an early shot of where my tent was going to be erected. I can't make out who the guys are filling sandbags, looks like Bud Bower on the left." Courtesy of SP/4 Cecil A.
