Attack on the National Police Station
An Hoa Hung Village 1 May 1968

Early in the evening in what was believed to be an act of retribution for the cordon and search of Long Hung and An Xuan, the local VC attacked the National Police Station-Village Office in An Hoa Hung with a barrage of small arms fire directed at its entrance wounding one PF and two villagers.

The local PFs on guard returned fire and no ground assault followed. The wounded were Nguyen Van Huong age 57, who lived next door and received a leg wound; his granddaughter Nguyen Thi Ut age 7, who received a serious head wound; and PF guard PVT Luong Van Sinh age 24, who was wounded in the buttocks.

All three casualties were transported to medical facilities on post. A reaction force from A & C Company under the direction of SFC Francis A. Condon (C Company) was dispatched to render support. They aided in the transport of the wounded, and provided added security for the remainder of the night. During their initial search operation one of their members, SP/4 Raymond Smee of C Company fell and suffered a bruised rib. He was also transported to Long Binh Post, treated and released.
