      LTC Oakes received command of the Battalion on 21 February at Fort Hood, texas After the 307th MP Battalion was redesignated as the 720th.

   The records do not reflect if LTC Oakes was the commander of the 307th at the time of the redesignation.

    On 2 March 1955, he passed command to LTC Robert M. Allgeier, before reassignment to the 4th Army Provost Marshal Office.
