On 28 January 1943 LTC Bell assumed command of the Battalion from LTC James L. Patterson at Townsville, Australia. The Battalion assets were stationed at Townsville, Cairns, and Mount Isa, Australia, and in Port Moresby, New Guinea, engaged in town patrol, traffic control, ship and dockside security, and guarding military installation's and POW's. |
On 6 April 1943 LTC Bell passed command of the Battalion to MAJ Arthur J. Wajnowski.
