LTC Robert Reinke

Commanding Officer of the 720th MP Battalion, 18th MP Brigade
14 December 1967 to 10 March 1968 ~ Republic of South Vietnam

 

 

 

LTC Reinke served as Battalion Commander from 14 December 1967 to 10 March 1968.

        During his tour as commander the Battalion participated in: Operation Fargo; Operation Overtake escort patrols to stop the staggering losses of high priority cargo by Vietnamese organized crime elements; Support operations in III Corps Tactical Zone during the Tet Offensive.

        The acquisition of new Boston Whaler "Skimmers" for the River Patrol Unit.

        The first Battalion Commander to be designated as Provost Marshal in area 2 and 3.

        The reassignment of the 615th MP Company to the 95th MP Battalion and acquisition of the 212th MP Company (Sentry Dog) to the 720th MP Battalion.

        The acquisition of the first Battalions Armored Personnel Carriers to be used in convoy escort and Reaction Force operations.

        Major upgrading of the An Hoa Hung school in the Battalion Tactical Area of Responsibility.

        On 10 March 1968 LTC Reinke passed command to LTC Zane V. Kortum
