LTC David J. Segalla, Jr.

Commanding Officer of the 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Brigade
20 August 2008 to 9 July 2010

        On 20 August 2008 LTC Segalla received command of the Battalion from LTC Frank Y. Rangel, Jr.

        On 9 July 2010 LTC Segalla passed command of the Battalion to LTC Eric D. Brunken.

      LTC Segalla's next assignment is with the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan / Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, where he will serve as the Afghan Border Police Program Manager.

        Lieutenant Colonel David J. Segalla, Jr. was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps in 1990 through the Reserve Officers Training Corps program at St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York.

       LTC Segalla’s military assignments include Platoon Leader, 5th MP Company, 5th Infantry Division, Fort Polk, Louisiana; Platoon Leader, 502nd MP Company, 2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas; Company Commander, 2nd MP Company, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, South Korea.

       LTC Segalla also served as the Deputy Provost Marshal, Fort Carson, Colorado; S1, 759th MP Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado; Senior MP Observer/Controller, National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California; Provost Marshal, National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California; Battalion XO, 701st MP Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Provost Marshal, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, South Korea; and Chief, MP Operations Division, Office of the Provost Marshal, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea.

       LTC Segalla holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Chemistry from St. Lawrence University and a Masters of Arts in Security Management from Webster University. His military education includes the Military Police Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Airborne School, Combined Arms Staff Services School, and the Army Command and General Staff Officer Course.

       LTC Segalla’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon.

       LTC Segalla is married to the former Carmen Fernandez of Passaic, New Jersey. Together, they have two children a son, David III (DJ), who is five years old and a daughter, Isabella, who will be 3 years old in September.
